Data Center Operator 1
SICORP is seeking a detail-oriented Data Center Operator to join our Albuquerque, NM team. This position is open to students, entry-level or mid-level candidates, and transitioning military personnel. The selected candidate will support customers by performing scheduled and emergency IT/network activities at multiple public and private data centers in the New Mexico area.
Data center operations consists of a twenty four hour day, seven days a week, 365 days a year work schedule. This posting is for day shift with the possibility for overtime and off-shift emergency work.
Installation and Integration Activities
- Run fiber, data cables and DC power cables in intra-rack cable management organizers, overhead/sub-floor cable trays and through designated data center fiber-entry points between adjacent suites.
- Install servers, networking equipment, non-energized power distribution units, ground wires, and patch panels into 2-post racks and EIA/OCE cabinets.
- Manage fiber connections, cable labeling, testing, and inspection, including troubleshooting, cleaning, termination and splicing as needed.
- Perform circuit turn-ups, fiber loop testing, patch cable installation, escorting and vendor/customer meetups, remote hot hands, and maintenance window events.
- Configure, coordinate, and monitor computer equipment, storage systems, and network operations; run diagnostic tests; and report observed warnings and deviations in logging/ticketing systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of data center hardware installation and fiber maintenance, splicing and termination experience.
- Minimum one year of basic computer/network/server management experience.
- ITIL version 4 and CompTIA A+ certification are a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required; completed BA/BS/AA degree is a plus.
Additional Work Attributes
- In-office position with possible remote work.
- Essential personnel may be required to report to work during inclement weather and winter closures.
- All candidates must follow established Safety and Security Plans. Military or Department of Energy experience is a plus.
- This position does not require an active U.S. Government Security Clearance; a previously held or active clearance is a plus.
